SÁPMI NATURE CAMP
An indigenous Sami owned and operated glamping site in the Laponia world heritage area, less than 1 hour drive from the Arctic towns of Jokkmokk and Gällivare. The owner, Lennart Pittja is a Sami from a reindeer herding family on this land and the location of the camp in the unspoiled nature of the Laponia World Heritage, on the shore of Lule River is unique.
This is the place where you will learn about the true life and culture of the indigenous Sami people in a personal, small-scale and sustainable way. You will stay in comfortable, warm and cosy lavvu cabins or tents and there’s always a local host present during your stay here taking care of you.
The camp has 5 double rooms and most of our meals are served in the cosy log cabin in the middle of the glamping site.

Lennart Pittja
Heart of Sápmi Nature
My name is Lennart Pittja, and I am the owner and founder of Sápmi Nature Camp, and I am looking forward to introducing you to Sápmi.
I grew up in a reindeer herding family here in Unna Tjerusj Sami community. This is grazing land that has been used by Unna Tjerusj for thousands of years. Sápmi Nature is committed to responsible tourism that does not threaten the reindeer and the herding here, instead we want to share our knowledge about Sami life, both past and present.
A stay at Sápmi Nature is an immersion into Sami culture. Here you will you get to experience nature and life in Sápmi through stories and experiences and by living in a way close to traditional life. Albeit with enough modern facilities to make the stay very comfortable.
Nature's best
Nature’s Best® is Sweden’s only sustainability label for nature-based experiences. The labeling system labels the activities of ecotourism entrepreneurs. Nature’s Best® functions both as a systematic tool for nature and cultural tourism companies’ sustainable business development and a quality label that makes sustainable experiences visible to conscious travelers.
